Authoritarian Elitism
Parties – But Not for the Peasants
The shameless display of hypocrisy this weekend, that was Barack Obama’s 60th birthday party, should have broken any remaining veil of legitimacy the ruling class had been afforded in the last oblivious soul in America. I say, “should have”’ because it clearly has not, whether for lack of awareness because of the media coverage blackout, or their ideological commitment to the Democrat party is now completely untethered from reason or reality.
Those in positions of power are aware of the freedom their party’s monopoly of media pundits allows them. The display this past weekend was on purpose, and specifically targeted to those on the right in an attempt to demoralize and single them out. As Matt Walsh said, “For leftist elites, hypocrisy is the point.”
Rather than wasting our time guessing whether the oligarchy is concerned about election audits, the truth escaping about Wuhan, or how they are going to replace the octogenarian dementia patient they’re playing “Weekend at Bernie’s” within the White House; this will serve as a starting block for you to show your friends and family how the Covid-19 pandemic has been weaponized.
A theme that runs throughout this article is the axiom that each decision has consequences. So often, especially for younger generations, their approach to policy and government is that it is possible to have their cake and eat it too. This creates unrealistic policy goals, which in turn makes their opposition seem undesirable since their goals are much more modest. This is why ideas such as free healthcare, free college, free–fill in the blank–are so popular among millennial voters.
You may have learned the same thing in your primary school economics class–TANSTAAFL–There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. This is a simple way of saying that trade-offs exist in everything we do, and yet those on the left are unable to explain the tradeoffs that are required for them to achieve their policy objectives. Whether it is raising taxes, further obliteration of our Constitutional Rights, or a hamstrung economic recovery, no policy is free of downsides.
Covid-19
The Lockdowns
What started as two weeks to slow the spread has been dragged into an unending saga of home confinement. Mental health diagnoses have skyrocketed, the middle class has been decimated, billionaires cleaned up to the tune of $1 Trillion, and governments everywhere have established authority over their citizens’ every freedom. Was it worth it?
The science is now undeniably clear, on this question, not only were the lockdowns not worth it, they were worse than the disease itself. Although it may be hard to quantify the economic damages compared to the loss of life resulting from Covid-19 infections, it is now known the lockdowns are responsible for more deaths than the virus itself.
As we wrote on July 30th, “New statistics from Canada analyze the provisional death totals and excess mortality nationwide between January 2020 and April 2021. According to government data, 1,380 Canadians under the age of 65 died from Covid-19, as compared to 5,535 excess deaths attributable to the lockdowns.”
There are over 60 studies on the ineffectiveness of lockdowns. It is undeniably false for Fauci, or his compatriots, to claim that the science is settled on the course of action they continue to advise world leaders to take, yet there is no counter information allowed into the public consciousness.
The Vaccine
The vaccine has been the light at the end of the tunnel for those hoping to earn their freedom back from those who have deprived them of it. Fauci, the CDC, and the World Health Organization (WHO) have consistently moved and manipulated the goalposts to continue the deprivation of rights. The WHO even changed the definition of Herd Immunity eight months into the pandemic in order to coerce people into getting vaccinated.
Much like how the lockdown policies were ineffective at preventing further deaths, the vaccine has not proven its value in preventing the spread of vaccines. According to a United Press International report on July 30th:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday released data showing that vaccinated people are at increased risk for COVID-19 infection with the Delta variant and that they can spread the disease nearly as easily as unvaccinated people. Nearly 75% of COVID-19 cases connected with large gatherings on Cape Cod in Massachusetts occurred in people fully vaccinated against the virus, according to data published Friday by the CDC.
The same trend has been observed in other countries as well, in Israel for example, with over 90% of the country fully vaccinated, has seen 95% of severe cases and 85-90% of hospitalizations were in fully vaccinated individuals according to Dr. Kobi Haviv. Gibraltar, the United Kingdom, and Canada just to name a few.
Those who defend the efficacy of vaccines usually point to a decrease in deaths even as the cases are spiking to prove the need for everyone to be vaccinated. There are a number of flaws with this argument. First of all, according to the CDC deaths had been falling regardless of cases since before the vaccine was available on a broad scale. Second, the data from relatively unvaccinated countries mirrors the same trend.
Finland, for example, sees the same massive spike in cases with no spike in deaths despite only 38% of their population being fully vaccinated as of August 9th, 2021.
The Passports
The latest “necessary step” on the path to get back to normal is a vaccine passport in order to effectively create an apartheid society and bar the unvaccinated from participating in daily activities. Why would that be the case given the fact that the CDC admits both vaccinated and unvaccinated can spread the disease as easily as the other, and there’s no difference in mortality rate across all percentages of vaccinated populations?
It would seem based on the data that the virus’ mortality rate is dropping regardless of whether the individual is vaccinated or not, and that the vaccine does not offer any tangible benefits.
The reality is the government in almost every country has taken this pandemic as an opportunity to expand its power over the people they are supposed to serve. Rather than working to protect life and civil liberties, they used the protection of life to justify previously unconscionable intrusions and violations of our rights.
