France shut every high school in the country on October 6 after two weeks of riots the government calls a school protest. The Interior Ministry counts about 6,100 arrests, most of them under 18. On October 8 the unrest crossed into Brussels.
It started at one short-staffed school in a Paris suburb in September. By October 2 more than 400 schools were shut. The barricades carry Algerian and Palestinian flags. The base is the suburbs French police stopped patrolling after 2005, and the far left runs cover.
Closing every high school put two million teenagers on the street, feeding the riot it was meant to stop.
The mistake for an American family is believing this takes a French-sized population. Your city may already have the three pieces: a district your police treat differently, a school with a walkout group, and an official who stands with the crowd.
This week, drive the route home that avoids those districts. Ask your kid’s school for its walkout policy in writing. Write down what your house does for 14 days with school closed and transit stopped.
Today’s SITREP has the warning signs and the full plan. 🔥
