You All Know That My ‘Conscious Bias’ Is Personal Safety and Self-Defense.

Everything I contemplate and practice must:

  1. Work during sudden violence.
  2. Enhance my survivability.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the sweet science of boxing. I’ve studied and trained in it since 1976.

While I practiced traditional martial arts methods, I always ran it through my personal bias: practical self-defense.

When I took on the responsibility of teaching professionally, my focus changed completely…

I focused exclusively on creating strategies, skills and drills to enhance safety and survivability during sudden violence.

Exclusive! I’ve Included an Instructional Video for You Today!

In it, you’re going to learn:

🥊 Sport versus street modifications

🥊 How and why learning sport-boxing slipping can help you in the street when you’re surprised

🥊 Offensive (Combative) slipping

🥊 Defensive slipping

🥊 Emergency slipping

Keep in mind these movements are foundational principles built around the reality that sudden violence often hijacks executive function and triggers the body’s primal reaction: the startle flinch.

Pro fighters flinch—even during sports matches!

Whether on the Street or in the Boxing Ring, Situational Awareness Is Real.

Street or Ring, Situational Awareness Matters!

And when awareness is compromised, the body’s survival system kicks in and we flinch!

And this is excellent for those who ‘get it’! — because our survival system can be conditioned to convert faster (if you train it), and all this, my friends, forms the foundation of the SPEAR System®.

As always, let me know what you think and if you have any questions, ask away.

Caution! Do NOT analyze these drills from a sparring perspective! You’re not gonna have duct tape on the floor in a real fight!

These drills are designed to get you in touch with kinesthetic perception and proprioception, so you can get your head off the line and out of the way of an incoming attack.

Visualize and practice.

Here is a link to a video demoing how important your feet are in shifting your head out of the way. This subtle movement from the feet actually moves your head, in the way the entire body is connected.
