The command centers overseas fell this year, and the enemy did not retreat. It went flat. The approval layer is gone, and with it the need for a plot big enough to earn permission.
The intelligence community’s 2026 assessment puts it on the record: with big attacks degraded, the groups shifted to propaganda meant to inspire or enable individuals already in the West. The enemy’s own editorial on the Bondi Beach attack mocked the West for still hunting an organization and a leadership.
The fallback is built in. Can’t get overseas, hit the nearest crowd. Minnesota is the shape of it: an 18-year-old, two years of messages in a chat window, $600 for a rifle, and a festival at a mall on October 24. The FBI had to warn his parents, because above the parents nobody was left to catch it.
Fewer big attacks. More small ones, and they land closer to your house. The risk for your family is the assumption that a plot needs a network behind it before it can reach your town.
This week: hit the fall festival in its first hour and leave before the crowd peaks. Carry a tourniquet on your body inside every indoor crowd event. If an agent calls about a kid you know, take the meeting.
Today’s SITREP has the warning signs and the full breakdown. 🎯
