Airports and federal buildings have guards, scanners and bag checks now. The mall festival, the church steps and the fair gate do not. So that is where the attacks go. An attacker wants a crowd he is sure of, and no door to stop him.
On October 6 an 18-year-old in Richfield, Minnesota paid about $600 for a rifle and 200 rounds. He skipped the courthouse and picked a family arts festival at the Mall of America for October 24 because he knew a crowd was coming. He wanted 30 to 60 dead so nobody goes back.
On Friday in Karak, Jordan, gunmen walked up to a church during a funeral and opened fire at the entrance. Seven dead, forty wounded. The attacker picks the spot where he knows a crowd will be and nobody stops him.
A bag check does not stop the attack. It moves it outside. Picture the folding table at the bag check with two hundred people bunched behind it on the sidewalk, cars rolling past a few feet away.
The risk for your family is the sidewalk outside the door, where you stand in a crowd and nobody checks anyone.
This week: walk the fifty feet outside the door before you walk through it. Park facing out, two rows back from the line. Move your church greeters from the foyer to the steps.
Today’s SITREP has the warning signs and the full breakdown. 🎯
